I am wondering this also.

Last year I went with Pork Bellies and got the info on a regular basis. I am coming to Council Bluffs on Sat. and either need to find out where the camp site will be. Usually he has responded to questions pretty fast.

The information you'll get is extremely limited. Last year we met out in front of the Sleep Inn at 11AM, loaded our bikes and luggage, and went on to Missouri Valley. I wrote Ron last week just to see if everything was OK but have not received a response. The last communication I received from Ron was on 6/15 and states that "we’re gong to try a different thing on the first day so watch for e-mails on that also."

The number I have for Ron is 712-261-2226. If you hear anything let us know.

I am hooking up with the group in Council Bluffs and need to hear where the camp is. I will also try to contact him. Should we be concerned?

I received an email from Ron this morning saying more information would be coming out today. I'm not entirely sure Ron would know where the Council Bluffs campsite is yet. You may have to check the big message board in town on Saturday.

Thanks for the info. The charters I have been with in the past had direction signs to the camp site as you came into town. My concern is that I don't want to be riding all over town trying to find the camp site. I assume he camps as close as possible to the message board?

I'm not sure how towns assign camping spots or how charters claim them. A few times last year we were pretty far from the message board and I heard some grumbling about riding a few extra miles. It wasn't a big deal.

I know it's frustrating to not have much information. I was worried about it last year but after Saturday everything was clear and the week was smooth. Heck, I don't think I even talked to the charter crew until Tuesday. I can't explain how it works but it does.

Does he post signs when coming into overnight towns as to where the site is?

Last year the signs were only on the big board.

I ahve chatted with Ron acouple times, but not for a month. He has said that we would ride over the Bob Kerry bridge( which is not in the RAGBRAI route) to get the river to river experience

Hey Guys don't worry, I have done this ride with Ron for 10 years.
Meet @ the Sleep Inn and ready to go around 11:00am. You will load the bikes and then the bus.
If your meeting in Council Bluffs go to the main Camp Ground information board and look under O for Ron Oman Charters
Ron will post the location once they have the camp site. This will be the same every night in the overnight towns.

I will not be there this year but will be back next year.
One thing to remember is to relax and have fun. If your not having fun lower your standards!

Ron is a purebred Iowan.

This is my first RAGBRAI. Did 97 OATBRAN in NV. Reading the discussion it doesn't appear clear on loading time for gear or location in Council Bluffs. Can we load gear Sat? I have no problem on checking the message board Sat, but would like to have an inkling before then.

What time do the busses/trucks load up and leave Burlington on the rtn trip 7/26?

Thanks, Matt
